Imaginative, dynamic and versatile are three of many adjectives that have been used to describe the drumming of Kendrick A.D. Scott. Born in1980 in Houston, Texas, he knew that he wanted to be a drummer from an early age. His initial inspiration and appreciation for music was acquired from growing up in a household of musicians.

The first encounters Kendrick had with the drums were in church, where his mother and brother were musicians and his father was a sound technician. At age six Kendrick's parents recognized his interest in the drums and bought him a drum pad. In two years his passion earned him his first drum set. During junior high school he cultivated his craft in church and at school where he was in the band. Later Kendrick went on to attend the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where his talents were refined in the Wind Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble and in the Jazz Band. He was influenced greatly by many drummers early on, including Eric Harland, Tony Williams, Papa Jo Jones, Chris Dave and Max Roach. His high school career culminated with many awards, the most notable being various student awards given by Downbeat Magazine and The Clifford Brown/ Stan Getz award, given by the International Association of Jazz Educators and The national Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts.

Upon graduation in 1998, Kendrick was awarded a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. At Berklee he majored in Music Education. His talents afforded him many opportunities, including touring nationally and internationally while still in school. In 2003, on his commencement day, Kendrick was already in line to join The Crusaders and The Terence Blanchard Group. There have been many of music's greatest talents that Kendrick has had the honor share the stage with, including Diane Reeves, Stefon Harris, Kenny Garrett, Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, Mark Turner, Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock, David Sanborn and Roy Hargrove. Residing in New York, he is developing his reputation as a great performer, composer, teacher and student of music.
