Currently residing in Nashville, TN, John Toomey has been studying and performing drums and percussion for about twenty years. He studied music and music business at Loyola University in New Orleans for three years. Then, as fate would have it, hurricane Katrina hit the Big Easy in 2005, forcing him to make some Big decisions. John moved to Nashville, TN to finish his degree in Commercial Music Performance and Music Business at Belmont University. Since that move, Johns career has taken off at a run!
Currently, John is enjoying the successful release of his first drumset instructional DVD through Alfred Publishing, John Toomeys FOOTWORK: Developing 6-Way Independence. Footwork has been nominated by DRUM! Magazine for a 2013 Drummies Award! He also has several method books in the works. Look for John in Clinic in a city near you.
Along with his media success, John keeps a busy schedule on the road as well as in the studio. He has been performing, recording and tour managing Warner Brothers recording artist, Jason Jones, for five years. Filling in the gaps of that already dense schedule, John is also working with pop power-house group, The Dillon Dixon Band, four time smooth-jazz grammy nominee, Denny Jiosa, and southern rock sensations, The New Lyceum Players. The New Lyceum Players have been in the 2012 top 40 Americana charts with our hit, Southern Amen (find it online!). Past tours have included American Idol Alum, Josh Gracin, and Curb recording artists, Bomshel.
If that wasnt enough, John is in the studio with several projects all to be released soon.
