Steph is originally from Londonderry, NH. She attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and was awarded a scholarship from the The Smyth Fund in Manchester, NH. She also received a scholarship from Berklee based on the talent she showed during her entering audition. During her time at Berklee, she had the opportunity to study with Jobhn Blackwell, Yoron Israel, Jack DeJohnette, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jackie Santos, Kenwood Dennard, Joey Scrima and many others. With her nomination from Kenwood Dennard, she also received the Terri Lyne Scholarship Award for her outstanding female musicianship.
Druing a clinic held by Meshell Ndegeocello at Berklee, Meshell told Steph that she was a "solid, pocket drummer." A teached at Berklee, Sergio Bellotti, also told Stephanie that she "sounded like Cindy Blackman". She went on to graduate with a degree in Music Performance: Drum Set.
Steph is now performing with the up and coming artist Allison Weiss in and around NYC, and also collaborates with Bess Rogers, Mal Blum, and others. She continues to perform with MRS DANVERS, an all female indie/pop/dance band. They have opened for The Cliks and Hunter Valentine at the Middle East in Boston, opened for the Corin Tucker Band at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, performed at the Boston Pride Festival, Mid Point Music Festival in Cincinnati, OH and several other performances around Boston and New York City.
Steph is also the Technique editor for Brooklyn based Tom Tom Magazine. It is a magazine that focuses on female drummers specifically. She not only writes, but films video lessons, gear reviews, and participates in interviews as well.
