[ CJ Burton ]
Group // Air Supply
From 5 years of age, CJ Burton was destined to play drums. It was around that time when the discovery of rhythm began from pulling pots and pans out of the kitchen cupboard and banging out rhythms for hours upon hours (driving both the neighbors and mom crazy!) The passion and love for listening to music also began around then from the many cassette tapes such as The Police, Toto, Air Supply, Michael Jackson and Queen, which were listened to endlessly, thus lighting the fire to a musical journey which has lasted over 25 years of playing drums professionally from small clubs, large clubs, weddings, corporate company parties, concert stages from arenas to showrooms, and every other stage in between.
By The age of 15, CJ was performing in night clubs around his home town, and was steadily gaining exposure as an up and coming working drummer in the Salt Lake City music scene. Upon graduating highschool, he began studying with one of the best top call session players in Utah, Kellly Wallis, and received a college degree for music with an emphasis in business. During that time, he expanded musical styles and began studying, Fusion, Funk, Jazz and Soul drumming as well as articulating skills in Rock drumming.
In 2002, CJ performed over 22 shows for the Salt Lake City, Utah Winter Olympics, within one month, and that same year was voted Best Drummer in Utah in City Weekly magazine. Since then, he has been working primarily as an independent freelance drummer, touring, recording, and maintaining a busy gig schedule with both local and international touring artists.
CJ is currently touring the world with legendary Super-Group Air Supply and can be seen at shows both world-wide as well as performing with some of Salt Lake City's finest musicians.
